Welcome to the first edition of the newest and freshest feature here on this portal — weekly online articles that will be covering Prague apartment rentals, residency issues, and other topics dealing with Prague accommodation and real estate. We’ll also be discussing and comparing the wide range of Prague neighborhoods; today we take a look at the popular Prague 2 neighborhood of Vinohrady.

Vinohrady (literally: vineyards) is one of Prague’s most well-known neighborhoods and has a solid reputation of being populated by expats and great pubs, while having fewer tourists than the Prague 1 centre. With the metro stations Námesti Míru and I.P.Pavlova, along with easy access to trams, renting in Vinohrady affords one quick and easy access to anywhere in Prague. Perhaps less well known, however, is that Vinohrady is also home to a number of great parks which are worth strolling through and exploring.

One of the surprising advantages in renting an apartment in Prague is the proximity to parks and nature. The Havlíckovy Sady park (located between the Botic river and Rybalkova St), for instance, not only contains wide expanses of lush grass, ideal photo spots, but also its fair share of wildlife as well. Eurasian jays, blackbirds and even the occasional magpie have all been spotted there, along with smaller creatures like squirrels—though these critters are can certainly make themselves scarce due to the high frequency of local dogs!

Of course, Vinohrady wouldn’t properly live up to its namesake without having at least one vineyard. Sure enough, making your way through you’ll come across the enchanting Vinicní Altán gazebo restaurant perched above the park, providing delicious locally pressed wines along with a wonderful view of the southern part of the city.
